A camping trip to the Cantal: a remarkable playground for your outdoor activities

[Translate to Anglais:]

Aurillac is located 680 metres above sea level, in the lower part of the Jordanne Valley, close to where the Jordanne joins the Cère. The varied landscapes in the surrounding area are ideal for family hikes as well as more strenuous challenges for seasoned athletes. Climbing enthusiasts should make for the top of Peyre Arse, which stands at 1,809 metres, or Puy Mary, which is 1,588 metres above sea level. You can also perfect your rowing during a canoe excursion on Lac des Graves.

Holidays in Aurillac: a place with a rich cultural heritage

Do you love historic heritage? Well, prepare to be spoilt... Aurillac has several gems, starting with the château de Saint-Étienne which stands, proudly overlooking the town. Then head to the town centre and admire the ancient townhouses and residences, before visiting the Romanesque church of Notre-Dame aux Neiges. Need more visual stimulation? Head to the jardin des Carmes, a lush green setting in the town centre, or the medieval Place Saint-Géraud, the ideal place for a drink on the terrace.

Treat yourself to some of the Pays d’Aurillac’s culinary specialities

Cantal will undoubtedly become the culinary star of your camping holidays. This locally produced cheese will easily find its way into your sandwiches, salads and other delicious recipes. You’ll also love deep-fried whitebait, freshly caught in the Auvergne or Auvergne-style coq au vin. Finish off in style with a slice of prune tart or Auvergne fruit jellies.
